CHAPTER 2 / 12
Choosing Universities
Build a research list around fit, evidence, and practical realities.
Educational planning guidance. Verify requirements with the institution and entry year. Official references checked October 23, 2026.
Compare the learning experience
Look at course structure, compulsory modules, assessment methods, flexibility, and available academic support. The same subject title can describe very different degrees. Save the official course page and write a sentence explaining why its content fits your interests.
Keep the whole experience in view
Research living arrangements, location, accessibility, travel, and total costs using official sources. Distinguish published information from estimates. A strong academic fit may still be impractical if essential costs or support needs remain unresolved.
Build a list you can explain
For each choice, record the evidence supporting fit and the uncertainties you need to investigate. Do not label any university a guaranteed admission. Review your list with your current preparation and the institution’s published requirements in mind.
Destination research notes

Europe
Check the language of instruction and the relevant application route for each program.
Start with the official guidance from EducationUSA, UCAS, and the European Commission’s Study in Europe. For US application platform instructions, see Common App. These references do not establish eligibility or a universal requirement.
